Sakura Ferroalloys is committed to advancing sustainability through clear and measurable long-term goals. By 2030 we aim to achieve a 30% reduction in stack emissions, supported by efficiency improvements and cleaner technologies. Looking further ahead, we are working towards net zero by 2050, aligning with global decarbonisation pathways and industry best practices. These targets reflect our commitment to climate action while keeping our operations resilient and competitive.

  • Reduce Scope 1 emissions by 10% before 2029 from the sinter-plant baseline.
  • Bio-carbon utilised in the BREX plant and sinter plant by end of 2026.
  • Scope 3 emissions measurement by June 2026.
  • 5% reduction in potable water consumption per year, from a 410,100 m³ baseline.
  • All three major projects at our foster school concluded by 2027.

Commissioned to recover fines and by-products back into the furnace, reducing waste.

Began selling furnace slag, turning a by-product into a useful resource.

Fume abatement

Water purification plant

Commissioned water-treatment capacity to manage and reuse process water responsibly.

Sphere Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

Completed a life-cycle assessment to measure the full environmental footprint of our products.

Launch of Aman

Introduced the Aman initiative as part of our sustainability programme.

Sinter plant commissioning

Brought a sinter plant online to improve raw-material efficiency.

JFE joins the shareholding

JFE became part of Sakura's shareholding, strengthening our partnership base.

Salamander Converter approved

A USD 90 million investment in our Refined Ferromanganese Converter was approved, strengthening production capacity and product diversification.

Salamander Project

A low-carbon refined ferro-manganese (FeMn) project, aimed at supplying the steel and battery industries with manganese alloys that carry a smaller environmental footprint than traditional operations.
